International Conference on Aerospace System Science and Engineering 2018

On July 31 – August 2,  “International Conference on Aerospace System Science and Engineering 2018” (ICASSE 2018) organized by Moscow Aviation Institute in cooperation with Shanghai Jiao Tong University on current research and development in the aerospace field. 

The purpose of the conference is the exchange of experience between specialized scientific, industrial enterprises and universities of the aerospace complex of Asia, Russia, the USA, Canada, Europe, involving various representatives of the scientific community.

75 leading scientists and specialists on aerospace studies from China, Russia, Canada and the United States of America took part in the ICASSE 2018. 25 students from Chinese and MAI universities were presented young scientists community and also participated in the conference.

The main areas in 46 papers to be discussed were:

• Dynamics and Flight Mechanics;
• Vibration and Noise Control;
• Aerospace Propulsion Theory and Engineering;
• Avionics and Opto-Electronic Systems;
• Guidance, Navigation and Control;
• Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems;
• Data Fusion and Information Processing;
• Space Robotics and Intelligent Systems;
• Bionic micro-aircraft / spacecraft;
• Deep space exploration;
• Systems Analysis, Design, and Integration.

Within the framework of the Conference there was a competition for the best students’ work. The works were evaluated by a scientific jury headed by Ping Lu, professor of San Diego State University, who has 150 technical papers in aerospace sphere and held a report on Powered Descent and Landing for Human Mars Missions at the ICASSE 2018. From MAI side at the jury was Dmitry Strelets, Head of Research Department - 101. The winners of the competition became two students of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Qiang Zhang and Zhan Qiu and a student of the joint double-degree program MAI-SJTU. Each of them received 50 000 rubles and certificates of winners.The rest of the students received certificates of conference participants.

“Participation in the ICASSE 2018 gave me a good chance to present my research to scientific community and to communicate with professors. It is a very good platform for early career scientists”, - shared his view the winner of the best students’work competition Qiang Zhang .

International Conference on Aerospace System Science and Engineering was held in Shanghai and in Moscow. In 2019 it will be held in Toronto, Canada.
