Vice President Lifeng Xi led a delegation to visit the North American Cooperative Partners of SAA

From October 22th to 25th, Lifeng Xi, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, led a delegation to visit SAA partners in North America: York University, University of Toronto, Purdue University,and University of Michigan. Shufan Wu, Executive Dean of SJTU-SAA, Xingqun Zhan, Vice Dean of SJTU-SAA, and Kunpeng Zhang, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of SJTU-SAA, were accompanied on the visit.

Robert Hache, Vice President of York University and Zhenghong Zhu, Director of Department of Mechanical Engineering, received the visiting group. During visit in York University, Aerospace System Engineering Shanghai of Shanghai Academy of Space Technology, School of Astronautics and Aeronautics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU-SAA), and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, York University signed the Agreement on Joint Research Laboratory for Space Science and Engineering.

The delegation also visited the campus and laboratories, and visited Jinyu Liu, a doctoral student jointly trained by SJTU and York University.

On October 23th, the delegation arrived at the University of Toronto. Christopher Yip, Associate Vice President of Toronto University, and Christopher Damaren, Dean of the Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, met with the guests. The two sides held three rounds of talks, discussing in detail the implementation provision of degree program.

The two sides agreed that: from 2019, the Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Toronto University will send 3-5 students to attend the double master's degree and student exchange program; SJTU-SAA will send 5 senior undergraduates to exchange one semester, and students will be candidates for the double master's degree program.

The two sides also identified the relevant issues of the 2019 ICASSE International Conference, which will be held in Toronto from July 31th to August 1th, 2019, co-organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, School of Aeronautics and Astronautics and University of Toronto, Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Accompanied by Dean. Christopher Damaren, the delegation visited the laboratories of the institute and exchanged and shared experiences in aviation and aerospace technology. Both sides looked forward to more in-depth cooperation with each other in more fields of scientific research in the future.

On the same day, the delegation visited Professor Hugh Liu, and visited SJTU-UT jointly trained doctoral and master's students.

On October 24th, the delegation visited Purdue University and held talks with Tom Shih, Dean of Purdue University, school of Aeronautics and Astronautics and visiting professor of SJTU. The delegation discussed the cooperation of Master of Aeronautical Engineering Management and the high-end training project for navigational pilots.

On October 25th, the delegation visited the University of Michigan, Professor Jun Ni, Director of Wu Xianming Manufacturing Research Center, and Professor Hui Peng, Director of Transport Mobile Transition Center. Then visited the M-City experimental site and discussed cooperation on Intelligent Networked Unified Vehicles.
