On January 15, the 2020 Shanghai Jiao Tong University-Moscow Aviation Institute Master's Graduation Ceremony was solemnly held by the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Mikhail Pogosyan, President of Moscow Aviation Institute, Xuemin Xu, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shuxin Liu, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of Shanghai Aircraft Design And Research Institute, and Liubava Shepeleva, Minister of Human Resources of United Aviation Corporation of Russia, attended the ceremony.
Roman Klinovskiy, Advisor to the President of the Moscow Aviation Institute, Dmitry Strelets, Director of the High-end Technology Department, Maxim Vasilev, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Veronika Monakhova, Dean of the School of Engine, Jianjun Yang, Deputy Director of the Student Office of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Dan Huang, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, Wei Ma, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Wei Zhang, Director of the International Student Service Center of the Student Affairs Steering Committee, Xin Wei, Director of the Training Office of the International Student Development Center of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Shiqiang Hu, Secretary of Party Committee of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Shufan Wu, Executive Vice Dean, Yang Ge, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and representatives of the faculty and staff of the two universities attended the ceremony to witness the graduation of the first dual master degree program. The ceremony was presided over by Xingqun Zhan, Vice Dean of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
The ceremony kicked off with two warm-up videos produced by Chinese students. All stood up solemnly and sang the national anthems of China and Russia. The guests and graduates expressed their love and respect for their countries.
Xuemin Xu addressed the graduates on behalf of the school. She congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of their studies and looked back fondly on their course of study since they entered the school. “I can still remember the chorus of “I love you China” and “Katyusha” from Chinese and Russian students two years ago. Now you've traveled together to two cities, experienced two cultures, and used three languages.” She was gratified by the students' achievements and full of hope for their development. She encouraged them as people studying aeronautics and astronautics to dare to lead, to contribute to the construction of science and technology power, to mind the world, to become a promising youth influencing the world.
Mikhail Pogosyan affirmed the leadership of the two countries in the field of Sino-Russian strategic cooperation in education, and hoped that the graduates would seize the opportunity and bravely assume responsibilities, display their ambitions and show their talents in the cause of Sino-Russian aviation industry.
The dual master degree program of the two universities was born in response to the CR929 program of the Sino-Russian wide-body aircraft, and has received strong support from COMAC and the United Aviation Corporation of Russia. Among the class of 2017, 29 Russian and 10 Chinese students have signed contracts with aviation companies and research institutes. Company representatives Shuxin Liu and Liubava Shepeleva delivered speeches respectively, affirming that the project is a brand jointly created by the strong aviation schools of China and Russia, which is the crystallization of the deep integration of industry and education, and looking forward to working with graduates to develop the Sino-Russian aviation industry.
As the tutor representative of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the head teacher of the first master class, Professor Bei Lu of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics delivered the tutors’ wishes. She encouraged the students to keep their mission in mind and cooperate friendly in their future work and hoped that all the students will be down-to-earth and have far-reaching aspirations.
Veronika Monakhova delivered a speech as the tutor representative of Moscow Aviation Institute. She said that the young people of China and Russia learned, communicated and grew together in the cooperative school program, and they would definitely make new contributions to the aviation industry of China and Russia.

Representatives of Chinese and Russian graduates Aleksandr Korchagin, Xuyang Wang and Ejen Gurev delivered speeches in Chinese, Russian and English. The three students spoke in their foreign language and won warm applause from the audience. They expressed their sincere gratitude to the leaders and teachers of the two schools for their painstaking efforts. They said that their knowledge level and ability level had been significantly improved during this period of study and life, and they were determined to create value in the aviation industry.
Xuemin Xu, together with Mikhail Pogosyan, presented certificates to six Chinese and Russian students who were awarded "Outstanding graduation theses".
The school prepared a fountain pen as a souvenir for the graduates. Shiqiang Hu and Shufan Wu presented gifts to encourage students to do their best in their work and design their future. Graduates prepared a crystal book sculpture as a souvenir for the school. The mottos of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Moscow Aviation Institute were engraved on the left and right sides of the sculpture. The students said that they would bear in mind the mottos of the two schools, make contributions to the development of the aviation industry in both countries.
On behalf of the school, Xuemin Xu presented a gift to guests Mikhail Pogosyan and Liubava Shepeleva who came from afar.

Before the start of the ceremony, Zhongqin Lin, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, warmly met with the team of President Mikhail Pogosyan, and the two presidents reached consensus on the implementation of educational projects and academic exchanges. The delegations of the two schools conducted in-depth discussions on the implementation of specific plans of education programs and the management of international students.
Under the background of the “Belt and Road” national strategy and the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Moscow Aviation Institute have in-depth cooperation to reform and innovate talent training mode, focus on promoting the Shanghai Jiao Tong University-Moscow Aviation Institute dual master degree program and dual bachelor degree program, and cultivate engineering talents in the field of aviation who have "world vision and national sentiment" and can "design the future by combining the knowledge of the past and the present". Up to now, the project has enrolled a total of three dual-degree master students and two dual-degree undergraduate students, with a total of 221 students. It implements the training mode of sending and receiving Chinese and Russian students under the all-English curriculum system. With the graduation of the first students of the project, the effect of education has initially appeared.
