Russian language learning---SJTU-MAI Dual Bachelor program

As Du Fu who is a famous Chinese  wrote, “the time and affairs are pushing me to go, the sunshine at the winter solstice marks the incoming new year.” Reviewing the past days and recalling the ones we have met at the very end of the year always does not have a different feeling.

    That’s what Minshen Kang feels when looking back on his Russian study life this semester. “I believe the Russian class not only taught us about the language grammar and customs and practices in Russia, but also cultivated our patriotic enthusiasm.” said Kang excitedly. Let’s have a look at the achievements of the MAI-SJTU students of grade 2020 in Russian study in the passing term.

Part one

Do in Rome as Rome does         Naming

    The Russian teacher asked us to find ourselves a Russian name when we were still puzzled by the brand new life in university. She recommended us some sweet names with special meanings. Meanwhile, we also tried to find our favourite ones online. Here are the names we chose:

Иван-兰，Леонид，Лиза，Надя，Коля，Иван ，Катя，Лев，Люба，Юра ，Андрей，Дима，Максим，Таня，Михаил，Максим -胡，Орёл，Владимир

    It seems that the students prefer name with 4 letters which are meaningful and easy to catch. Among the names, Иван and Максим are so popular that both of them were chose by two students. We have to call them with their family name!

Part two

"My motherland and I"         Reciting

    With the arrival of the National Day, we also feel like using Russian to express our pure patriotic feelings. Therefore, under the organization of Teacher Liu, we held a calligraphy competition to copy the Russian lyrics of “My motherland and I”. We invited two of our seniors to vote with us, and then we selected the five best works：

Napoleon said, “What is the highest moral standard of mankind? That's patriotism.”I think, why not regard these calligraphy works as our gifts to our prosperous motherland?

Part three

Pushkin's three poems of winter    reciting

    Winter is coming. At the same time, we just have learned “the father of Russian literature”— Pushkin in the textbook. So we held a recitation contest to read Pushkin’s poems on the theme of winter, hosted by Орёл.

　　After the recitation, Владимир introduced us to Tchaikovsky, and we end this activity by listening to music “Winter's Dream".

Part five

Summary

     The MAI-SJTU class is a special class in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of SJTU. Most of the us will devote ourselves to the development of aerospace industry of China without seeking for fortune and fame in the years to come. The Russian study this term was developed with the theme of patriotism, helping us to understand the idea more deeply. Guanzi•Muming says, “Use the ways of managing a family to manage a family. Use the ways of running a town to run a town. Use the ways of administering a country to administer a country. Use the ways of governing the world to govern the world.” Shouldn’t we, the future aerospace engineers, keep the idea of “benefiting the country without seeking” in mind?

    The past is the prelude, and the future is the expectation. Wish every one can live up to his own expectation in 2021!
